HOW TO STEAL LIKE AN ARTIST (AND 9 OTHER THINGS NOBODY TOLD ME)

Every item on this list made me feel good about what I do and how I do it. Writers, artists whatever… read it.

“The best way to find the work you should be doing is to think about the work you want to see done that isn’t being done, and then go do it.

Draw the art you want to see, make the music you want to hear, write the books you want to read.”

I wrote a tv pilot that I’m shooting independently because I think it’s good. It’s what I WANT TO WATCH. Today a manager asked me where I saw it going. I had to completely honest and admit that I have no fucking clue. I write what I like which pretty much rules out Comedy Central or Adult Swim from ever hiring me.

I’ve decided this okay, and if I do ever sell something, it’ll be because it’s UNlike everything else out there, not because you can summarize it using the names of 3 existing shows. And if I’m never successful at least I’ll have work I’m proud of instead of a pile of crap I created aimed at dumb ass fourteen year old boys in an attempt to “be funny.”
